Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our team in the fire protection industry. As a Fire Sprinkler Designer, you will be responsible for designing and engineering fire sprinkler systems for various projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Your expertise in FM Global (FM), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) guidelines will be instrumental in producing accurate and effective sprinkler system designs. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the safety and protection of buildings while working in a dynamic and rewarding industry.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with clients, architects, and engineers to understand project requirements, objectives, and specifications.

2. Design fire sprinkler systems in accordance with FM, NFPA, and LPCB standards and guidelines, considering project-specific constraints and client needs.

3. Conduct hydraulic calculations and perform detailed system layout and pipe sizing to ensure optimal performance and water distribution.

4. Prepare detailed drawings, plans, and specifications for fire sprinkler systems using AutoCAD or other design software.

5. Coordinate with other design disciplines to ensure effective integration of fire sprinkler systems with the overall building design.

6. Review and interpret architectural and engineering drawings to identify suitable locations for sprinkler heads, pipe routing, and system components.

7. Conduct site surveys and assessments to gather information required for accurate system design and installation.

8. Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements, industry trends, and best practices related to fire sprinkler system design and engineering.

9. Collaborate with internal project teams, including estimators and project managers, to review and refine designs and ensure alignment with project budgets and timelines.

10. Provide technical support and expertise to installation and commissioning teams during the implementation of fire sprinkler systems.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered.

2. Proven experience in designing fire sprinkler systems, preferably with a focus on commercial and industrial projects.

3. In-depth knowledge of FM, NFPA, and LPCB guidelines and standards related to fire sprinkler system design and engineering.

4. Proficiency in using design software, such as AutoCAD or hydraulic calculation software, for fire sprinkler system design.

5. Strong understanding of hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, and water supply requirements for fire sprinkler systems.

6. Familiarity with different types of fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems.

7. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve design challenges effectively.

8. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.

9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, architects, engineers, and internal teams.

10. Knowledge of other fire protection systems and regulations, such as fire alarms and fire suppression systems, is desirable.
