There is a requirement for XXXX Consultants to provide 3 CAD Technicians to support the existing Network Rail team, Internal Design Team (IDT).

IDT are involved in the production of designs for a range of Civils renewals schemes across the Network Rail North, West and Central (NW&C) region. Designs will predominantly relate to structures Works.

Key Accountabilities/Deliverables

Work with Civil Engineers to provide design solutions. This will principally involve:

1. Create scheme drawings with minimal supervision
2. Ordering OS tiles from NR catalogue
3. Attending site visits
4. Using conventional measuring and surveying techniques to build up as-build/ existing condition drawings
5. Xref surveys undertaken by external bodies into drawings
6. Carry out LIDAR point cloud scans using in-house surveying equipment
7. Utilising detail exams to input defects onto existing condition drawings
8. Amend drawings based on engineers’ mark ups (both electronic and pen)
9. Add H&S data onto drawings
10. Up-rev drawings based on comments received from inter-disciplinary checks.

This role will principally but a support role for the Design Engineer who takes the professional lead in the design process, however the team philosophy is to encourage all team members to use their initiative to solve problems which may involve unconventional ways of working.

11. Support the construction design management (CDM) principal designer in all associated duties and carry out or monitor cross-discipline engineering checks of all relevant aspects of the proposal.
12. Lead the engineering interfaces of allocated proposals with concurrent work in other disciplines, or within other programmes.
13. Act as or liaise with the appropriate Contractors Responsible Engineer during GRIP stages 2-6 to so that method statements for site works and surveys are produced and approved to the required standards.
14. Monitor, assess, evaluate and audit Consultants and Contractors during GRIP stages 2-6

Working Arrangements:
The working week for all the roles is Monday to Friday, standard working hours (9am – 5pm, 7 hour working day [1hour break allowance]).
The office location for all the roles is Heaton Mersey, and it is essential that there is the ability to visit the office as required/requested. As a minimum this shall be 3 days per week.
To note, Heaton Mersey will be the primary office location, however there may be a requirement to attend other offices / locations across the Region, including for Smethwick, Manchester Square One and Hub 30 in Birmingham.
Network Rail will supply a laptop for the duration of the contract to enable access to the Network Rail systems.
Duration 12 months with option to extend for a further 12 months.
Negotiated rates inside IR35 rates – it has been assessed off-payroll working rules (IR35) apply to this commission.
